Τhe Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete and the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FO.R.T.H.) announce that they will jointly run an English-language M.A. Program in Ottoman History as of September 2018.
The Program will be held in Rethymno, a beautiful Venetian, Ottoman, and Modern Greek town on the island of Crete, Greece. Its duration will be two years (4 academic semesters) and it will offer classes in Ottoman history and Ottoman palaeography and diplomatics, as well as in modern Turkish for those who are not native Turkish speakers. Furthermore, students will be required to write an original M.A. thesis, based on a critical use of Ottoman sources.
The Program will not charge tuition fees. The 2018 call for applications will be announced soon.
